Is my gift tax-deductible?
No. BHYC is not currently 501c3 eligible. The Board considered this option in the past but did not move forward due to administrative and operational hurdles.
Will there be an assessment?
No. The Board of Governors recognizes that a fixed assessment would not reflect our diverse membership and the wide range of life situations affecting the amount of time members are able to spend here in Maine. We seek to keep the Club affordable for all.
Won’t the sale of the Ebeling house pay for everything?
The sale of the Ebeling property will help fund a portion of the project. While we are fortunate the property has increased significantly in value, some of the proceeds will go to paying off a loan and capital gains taxes.
What happens if not enough funds are raised?
This is a phased, multi-year project. Each phase will proceed as funds are in place. The more quickly funds are raised, the faster the completion.
Can I give if I am not a member?
Absolutely! Many people cherish our Club (young adults, past members, visitors) and all are welcome to contribute.
